Positive affirmations
A powerful self help tool for changing the way you think.

Affirmations are a simple way of retraining your sub conscious mind by repeatedly giving it the message you want to believe.

There are three simple, but important rules to writing your own affirmations;
1. Affirmations must include the word "I"
2. Affirmations must be written in the present tense i.e. "I am....... "
3. Affirmations must contain only positive language i.e. "I am good at my job."

So having composed your positive affirmation (try to keep it short and punchy) you then need to write out your affirmation many times each day for at least a week - longer if you really mean it!

Once you have got into the habit of writing your affirmation out many times you then need to ensure you can see your affirmation.  To do this write yourself notes with your affirmation on, put it on your Screen Saver, leave yourself a reminder on your mobile phone, send yourself a postcard with it on.

The top level of a successful affirmation is to face yourself in the mirror and tell your affirmation to your reflection.  By doing this it is as if someone else is telling you and we all know how powerful it can be when someone we know and trust tells us something!

A word of warning - there is likely to come a day when this idea seems silly and you will be tempted to give up.  This is because you are trying to eclipse a negative message that has been lodged in your subconscious mind for a very long time.  Persevere; know that this is a natural reaction, but that you can work through it.  In time your sub conscious mind will take on board what you are telling it.

Remember "Whether you believe you can or you believe you cannot - you are right!"  Henry Ford.
